Red Pasta using Spanish Tomato Seasoning

🛒 Ingredients (Serves 4):

🍝 Pasta:

  • 250g penne or fusilli
  • Water for boiling
  • 1 tsp salt

🍅 Sauce:

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic (finely chopped)
  • 1 small onion (finely chopped)
  • 2 tbsp Picante Spanish tomato seasoning
  • 1½ cups tomato puree
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste (optional for richness)
  • ½ tsp Picante Chilli flakes
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp sugar (optional)
  • Salt to taste

🧀 Optional Add-ins:

  • ¼ cup fresh cream (for creamy version)
  • ½ cup grilled vegetables
  • ½ cup grilled chicken or prawns
  • Parmesan or mozzarella for topping

1️⃣ Boil the Pasta

  • Bring water to boil.
  • Add salt and pasta.
  • Cook until al dente.
  • Reserve ¼ cup pasta water and drain.

2️⃣ Prepare the Spanish Red Sauce

  • Heat olive oil in a pan.
  • Sauté garlic for 30 seconds.
  • Add onions and cook until soft.
  • Add Picante Spanish tomato seasoning and toast lightly for 20–30 seconds (enhances aroma).
  • Pour in tomato puree and tomato paste.
  • Add pepper, Picante Chilli flakes, and sugar.
  • Simmer 8–10 minutes until thick and glossy.

3️⃣ Combine

  • Add cooked pasta to sauce.
  • Toss well.
  • Add a little reserved pasta water if needed.
  • Finish with cheese or cream (optional).
