Red Pasta using Spanish Tomato Seasoning

Key Product @ Picante Spanish Tomato Seasoning @ Picante Chilli Flakes
🛒 Ingredients (Serves 4):
🍝 Pasta:
- 250g penne or fusilli
- Water for boiling
- 1 tsp salt
🍅 Sauce:
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic (finely chopped)
- 1 small onion (finely chopped)
- 2 tbsp Picante Spanish tomato seasoning
- 1½ cups tomato puree
- 2 tbsp tomato paste (optional for richness)
- ½ tsp Picante Chilli flakes
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp sugar (optional)
- Salt to taste
🧀 Optional Add-ins:
- ¼ cup fresh cream (for creamy version)
- ½ cup grilled vegetables
- ½ cup grilled chicken or prawns
- Parmesan or mozzarella for topping
1️⃣ Boil the Pasta
- Bring water to boil.
- Add salt and pasta.
- Cook until al dente.
- Reserve ¼ cup pasta water and drain.
2️⃣ Prepare the Spanish Red Sauce
- Heat olive oil in a pan.
- Sauté garlic for 30 seconds.
- Add onions and cook until soft.
- Add Picante Spanish tomato seasoning and toast lightly for 20–30 seconds (enhances aroma).
- Pour in tomato puree and tomato paste.
- Add pepper, Picante Chilli flakes, and sugar.
- Simmer 8–10 minutes until thick and glossy.
3️⃣ Combine
- Add cooked pasta to sauce.
- Toss well.
- Add a little reserved pasta water if needed.
- Finish with cheese or cream (optional).
